LPC Supervision
One of the most important decisions you can make as an aspiring Licensed Professional Counselor is choosing the right supervisor. Just as it is important for a client to feel safe and supported by a therapist, it is important for an LPC-Associate to feel safe and supported by an LPC-Supervisor. Aside from filling the role that is required by the Texas State Board in order for LPC Associates to obtain full licensure status, I believe that it is the responsibility of the supervisor to provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for the LPC-Associate to learn and grow within the profession.
How It Works
Some things you can expect during our regularly scheduled supervisory meetings are:
-
Guidance and feedback to help you develop your clinical skills as a therapist
-
Oversight of your practice, case load, treatment plans, and goals for your clients
-
Emotional support and mentorship to help you build confidence as a therapist
-
Consulting with you about ethics, clinical dilemmas, and case management
-
Educating you about the business aspects of building your own private practice
Approach
Counseling can be a very rewarding but also very difficult and emotionally demanding job and even the most experienced therapists can still struggle with issues like compassion fatigue, burnout, and vicarious trauma. My goal for supervision is to help you to become to best and most authentic version of yourself not only as a therapist, but also as an individual. By teaching, promoting, and modeling the importance of finding a healthy work-life balance, setting healthy boundaries, and engaging in appropriate self-care I am hoping that one day you will be able to do the same for your own LPC supervisee should you also decide to become a supervisor.
I would love to schedule a consultation with you to see if we would be a good fit! Regardless of whether or not you decide choose me as your supervisor, I am so happy to be able to share in this profession with you and I wish you all the best in pursuing your licensure.
