Welcome!
I'm so glad you're here :) I have always believed that just as a flower needs water and sunlight to grow, individuals need nurturing and warmth to heal.
Whether you are new to therapy or you have tried therapy in the past and are looking for a new experience, you have already taken an important and courageous step towards healing just by reading this.
Here at AVA Mind Body, your presence matters. All bodies, genders, sexualities, races, and belief systems are welcome.
Whatever it is that has brought you here today, please know that you don't have to go through it alone.

About
Hello! My name is Kelly Hutcheson. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-500), and owner of AVA Mind Body (formerly AVA Counseling, PLLC.)
Background
I have a B.S. Degree in Psychology from Missouri State University and earned my M.A. in Professional Counseling in 2003 from Lindenwood University in St. Louis, Missouri. I have been working as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas since 2010 and as an Approved Supervisor since 2014. In 2019, I earned my Registered Yoga Teacher (500 hour) certification from MelMarie Yoga Academy in San Antonio Texas. In 2014 I founded AVA Counseling, PLLC which I relaunched as AVA Mind Body in 2025 to incorporate yoga and somatic elements into my therapeutic practice.
My Approach
It is my priority to create a safe, non-judgmental, welcoming, and compassionate space where my clients can work through whatever it is that might be holding them back from living as their happiest, healthiest, and most authentic selves. My approach as a therapist and/or yoga teacher is collaborative, empathetic, humanistic and holistic. I believe that every client is the expert in themselves and it is my role to help nurture, support, and guide them towards reaching their wellness goals. My clients often describe me as warm, friendly, and inviting and I love learning about and incorporating my clients’ hobbies and interests into our work together.
Outside of therapy
I am an avid lover of cult classic movies, mochi donuts, coffee, cucumber soda, and Sprite Tea. My anti-burnout routine includes running, practicing yoga, diamond painting, baking mini-cupcakes, and watching/quoting old episodes of The Simpsons.
